Safe Church

Practices and Policies in the Episcopal Diocese of Idaho

Overview

In our efforts and commitment to creating and maintaining our churches and activities as safe spaces for all people – including the more vulnerable among us – the Episcopal Diocese of Idaho expects that all parish leaders – volunteers, elected representatives, clergy and staff – take courses that will enable them to recognize and prevent abusive situations.

Training is offered through Praesidium Academy online at www.praesidiumacademy.com.  At this point, only online training as Praesidium redevelops the in-person Safe Church Safe Communities program.  Training should be completed every 3 years.  If you have questions, please contact Canon Emily Van Hise.

The Safe Church program at Praesidium, developed especially for Churches, includes a number of modules participants can choose from.  To see which modules are recommended for your position in the Church, please see this handy chart on course selection.

Please contact the Diocese at the completion of your training to make sure that Praesidium has sent us the correct information so we can update or issue your Safe Church license.

Thank you for helping us achieve our goals of safety in church and community!
